This is a song I wrote about the change Christ brings about in our hearts.
My super talented friend Joy Tong has put it into music. Hope you enjoy it!
A Tale of Two Hearts….
My old heart would always hate,
Full of envy, rage and lust,
Desires nothing would sate,
Rotten, rancid, filled with rust.
My old heart would always curse,
The foes it knew, forever kept.
The wounds of mine, O who would nurse? The One that loved, the One that wept…
The wooden beams, the iron nails, Crimson dews, drop on soil,
The words are weak, the tongue just fails, The thirsting lips, the pain and toil…
The One who died, He died for me,
The wretched man He always knew.
The One that came to set me free, Shattered my heart and made it new,
My new heart can indeed pray,
For those who hate, for I am blessed
To know the One who is the Way,
And In Him, I, would find my rest…

A couple of years ago, I went through an extremely difficult and painful time in my personal life. I was mentally and emotionally drained.
I went to church every Sunday but I could not sing the songs. The songs were all happy, theologically solid, but all happy, all about rejoicing. I could not identify with any of them. None of them expressed how I was feeling. I realized that there are very few Christian songs that deal with pain and sorrow.
So I wrote this song. My super-talented friend Joy Tong has sung it and another very talented friend Elizabeth Tang has played the piano.
Look unto Jesus
When you are lonely,
When your heart’s broken,
All you deem precious
Is from you taken.
When you’re in sorrow,
When the pain won’t cease,
When you are weary,
And longing for peace.
You may look on us,
We’ll carry your burden,
We’ll walk alongside you,
But we are mere men.
So look unto Jesus,
Yes, look to Him my friend,
For He is the Savior
Whose grace will have no end.
Yes look unto Jesus,
Whose body was broken,
Nailed to a cross of shame,
Betrayed and forsaken.
Yes look unto Jesus,
Whose precious blood was poured,
The One who redeemed us,
The One who is our Lord.
Yes look unto Jesus,
Yes, look to Him my friend,
For He’s indeed promised
To be with us till end...
